IDB calls for short films to highlight region’s security

first_imgWASHINGTON, CMC – The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched a new citizen-security initiative aimed at getting young people from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to indicate how they would deal with crime and security on the streets of their cities. The IDB said it has teamed up with SmartFilms Film Festival for the initiative and is calling for submissions on the theme “I am not afraid to enjoy my city”.“We seek films by young people and professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean who, through creativity, art and technology, tell us in two minutes how they see security and crime prevention on the streets of their city. The deadline for submissions is July 30, 2019,” the IDB said.It said that insecurity has many faces: barred windows, private security systems, closed urban spaces, barbed wire.“It can create cities within cities. It can mean changing the route you take when you drive or bike. Crime conditions our lives: where we go, where we live, what time we leave home and return. However, there are also efforts and progress being made to improve security and prevent crime.“We are looking for creative individuals to tell the world that they are not afraid to enjoy their city because ideas are changing and the state is modernizing.”The IDB said that the stories could show how citizens have trust in the police and an efficient and fair justice system as well as there being social programmes that create opportunities for a future beyond crime. It said the stories could also show prisons can be rehabilitative spaces and former inmates have a second chance as well as society understanding that violence against women is also a problem for men.“Films must be recorded on one or more smart mobile devices (phones or tablets) of any kind. The creator must be an amateur or professional of over 13 years of age. The film should last two minutes, including credits, and should be recorded in a horizontal orientation. The short must be an original work that has not been marketed or displayed on social networks, the internet, or other platforms,” the IDB said, adding that the deadline for submissions is July 30, 2019.It said the winning short will be announced at a ceremony to be held in Colombia on September 10 and that the winning filmmaker will receive 20 million Colombian pesos (US$6,000).last_img read more

Tom Mitchell – RISQ – “Power is nothing without the right controls”

first_imgShare UKGC launches fourth National Lottery licence competition August 28, 2020 Submit Share Related Articles Winning Post: Swedish regulator pushes back on ‘Storebror’ approach to deposit limits August 24, 2020 StumbleUpon UKGC hails ‘delivered efficiencies’ of its revamped licence maintenance service  August 20, 2020 Tom Mitchell – RISQFollowing a year of growth, SBC catches up with Tom Mitchell, B2B Director of London-based tech firm RISQ. Bringing new insurance/risk products to market, RISQ’s commercial team has  announced a number of new Tier1 partnerships. SBC gets the full lowdown from Mitchell…______________________SBC: Can you begin by introducing RISQ as a company and describing what it is you do?Tom Mitchell: RISQ are a London-based technology company, providing the highest levels of precision and data analytics in jackpot risk management. We offer hedge bets and insurance on the outcomes of international lotteries and have access to the largest insurance limits in the industry.  Our Jackpot RNG (Random Number Generator) is suited to a wide range of applications, tailoring odds, jackpot-size and frequency to any platform or games developer’s specific needs. These scalable jackpot solutions drive traffic, acquisitions, and player behaviour in the global-gaming and digital-marketing space. RISQ think differently, seeking out opportunities that allow clients to increase their margins and maximise returns through innovative technology, allied to a unique corporate structure. Holding both UKGC and Alderney licences, we supply the first-ever insured RNG with scope to grow limits up to £100m per play.SBC: How successful has RISQ’s range of B2B offerings been in attracting clients, and do you have any prospective partnerships in the pipeline?TM: To be honest, jackpots can now provide the cornerstone of each product, whether it be lottery, RNG or sports-related. Succinctly put, for the aforementioned reasons, jackpots work. And our solution has enabled the gaming industry to easily access such jackpots, which can in turn be pressed into a variety of services. After all, we are still at the doorstep of seeing how the modern igaming market moulds its use of jackpots. So, at RISQ, we have been eager to ensure that adaptability remains our watchword. Our uniquely-structured, B2B-only solution can be extended to affiliates, gaming platforms, games developers and operators, providing total and democratised access to jackpots that are flexible and scalable to meet their exact requirements. In fact, we’ve just announced a partnership with leading online instant win games supplier IWG to launch an exciting new range of jackpots powered by RISQ’s RNG. It’s a great validation to have such a forward-thinking supplier on board, and we expect the pipeline to draw from a similarly well-respected pool.SBC: What reassurance can you offer future partners as to jackpot prize insurance?TM: Power is nothing without the right controls, and the importance tamper-proof data is paramount to the success of our business. To which end, RISQ’s technology runs off the latest software, which both vets and protects results with automated timestamps and the most robust anti-interference systems around. So while our solution is a real game-changer for this industry, it also delivers complete peace of mind for individual operators when providing the customised flexibility to offer jackpot-led titles without the need to share liquidity, or the potential rewards of a major jackpot win, with rival sites. And while our jackpot limit is currently set at £25m, the industry interest it is creating will soon see us increase that figure to £100m. Perhaps above all, though, RISQ’s fiduciary commitment to transparency and contracting with A-rated insurers at every juncture sets us apart. Ultimately, our partners want to know that in the event of a win, the claim process is seamless and robust, with the player getting paid quickly and in line with terms and conditions. Tackling any such reliability concerns has been at the heart of our development and company culture.SBC: Looking to the future, how will you ensure RISQ continues to grow and expand?TM: Ever since we entered the market in 2010 as the first insurance-based lottery solution, we have looked to the long-term, and the accompanying evolution to facilitate that path forward. We plan to grow our existing B2B relationships, certainly add new ones, and make continuous improvements to client-margins through the most efficient risk-management systems available. Meanwhile, on the other side of the business, the insurance industry is ripe for disruption, and we already have our finest minds making inroads into how best to exploit those forthcoming opportunities.last_img read more

Darko Gacov, Singular: Using technological innovation to secure market advantage

first_img Romania’s ONJN adds 20 sites to blacklist August 14, 2020 Sweden: Soft2Bet CEO Chaikin on prospering in igaming’s brave new world August 18, 2020 Submit Share Alberto Alfieri: Leading the way for Gamingtec’s B2C growth August 25, 2020 Share StumbleUpon Related Articles Operators are continuing to find new ways to both keep up with and adapt to a rapidly changing technology landscape, explained Darko Gacov, Founding Partner at Singular Group. But one of the main challenges for suppliers at the minute is developing encaptivating features which give them the edge over others.SBC: In recent years there has been a big focus placed upon industry innovation, how has Singular capitalised on this?In the last period, with the increase in competition, the frequent regulatory changes and the need for growth, technology is taking a key position in creating a success story. This is resulting in the big operators trying to experiment and find ways to break from their legacy technology so that their solutions can follow the pace of their growth and marketing efforts. We have placed a big focus on innovation ever since the company came into existence back in 2009. One thing that might not be widely known, Singular was the pioneer of the nonstop bet feature which opened the gates towards the creation of bet builder and edit-bet features in the industry. We have continued to innovate and experiment on many levels, starting with technology stacks, continuing with products and features. Our primary reason is giving our clients an edge over the competition in their respective markets. We work closely with our clients dedicated to their growth which can sometimes lead to innovation motivated by them. The latest development is our 4th generation Sportsbook platform that will be unparalleled and includes a new design, player journey and a lot of encaptivating features. Even though the third 3rd gen sportsbook is an astounding product which has given huge value to our clients, we can’t stop there.SBC: Can you tell SBC readers about Singular’s journey to becoming one of the top 10 Casino Tech Solution Providers for 2019?Deep in its DNA, Singular has always been and continues to be a tech company. In the first two years of the company formation, starting in 2009, Singular was working in two industries. One was the banking industry where the company was creating core and mobile banking systems and even though unrelated, social media gaming was the second one.In 2011, the company started shifting towards the iGaming industry. The main motivation was the cooperation with Adjarabet. We saw a challenge in an industry where there was a lot of legacy and knew that if we are innovative and focused on delivering the best iGaming experience, we can do some ripples in the industry. Having the determination to do so, over the next few years, without any legacy or technical debt, we designed different iGaming solutions which were enabling and supporting the growth of Adjarabet.By 2014 we designed, developed and delivered the different product verticals constituting a 360-degree iGaming solution. It was then when we understood that we have attracted the interest of some major international players since one of the leading companies in the iGaming industry approached us with the intent to acquire Singular. This was an affirmation to push even harder since delivering an iGaming solution is not a destination, but a perpetual process which requires reinvention, innovation, and constant improvement.SBC: What new components do you have lined up for 2019 to keep pace with the most powerful and feature-rich platforms on the market? This year we aimed to give operators the tools that will equip their traders with insight for more effective risk management (RM) and empower their marketing team to deliver more efficient marketing campaigns. We created an ultimate synergy between our segmentation and recommendation engines and the marketing and RM tools that create a strong gravitational force that attracts, engages, and retains players ultimately maximizing their LTV.As I mentioned before, the Sportsbook generation 4 is soon to be released which will take user experience to the next level with some bold moves. The solution will take in-play first approach, automatically adapting to each player’s needs and creating a personalized game experience, based on players’ activities and interaction patterns with the platform. One of the points that further differentiates Singular’s Sportsbook is the control center with its match-centric focus. Bookmakers can apply configurations on match level giving them full control over the players’ betting lifecycle. This empowers our clients with the tools and knowledge to significantly optimize both their offering and their margins in the long run.SBC: Has Singular identified any emerging markets that it wishes to target in the coming year? Not only that we have identified an emerging market, but that emerging market has also identified us, which to admit is the best possible scenario. The market or better said markets in question is the United States, or some states in particular. We are hoping to share some good news out in regards to Singular and US during the course of next year.SBC: How important is a well visualised sportsbook experience in complementing data feeds, number of markets etc?It is crucial and that cruciality will be increasing over time. When it comes to the number of markets, there is a growing demand by the operators, but we are still looking at 80/20 rate, 80% of the players, 20% of the markets used. However, it is very important to have a holistic product, tailored to both the market and the players. Again, the flexibility to combine and switch between different data feeds is proving to be essential, as we predicted when we were originally designing the architecture of the solution.Internally we have what we call Data Fees Service module (DFS). This module supports the integration and utilization of any data feed point in any way. In essence one can have one data feed as primary, second data feed as complementary and third data feed as supplementary. Of course this is not the limit, as in essence our operators get to choose how many data feed points they want to use and to what extent. This expands operators coverage and diversifies their offer which ultimately creates a more engaging experience for the players.SBC: How has the changing level of demand for a digital product worked towards Singular’s advantage? As stated in the beginning, Singular has always been a tech company that prioritized quality over quantity. One thing that has truly empowered our growth is the solid foundation in modularity and flexibility. Nurturing that flexibility of our solutions by creating different modules that can be integrated and combined in a flexible manner has given us an edge over the competition.Particularly, in the dynamic market of today where both operators’ and players’ demands are constantly changing. On top, we have an accelerated change in market regulations which poses as a first-mover advantage. For Singular, the faster the demands are changing – the higher the competitive advantage we have.last_img read more
