CANYON COUNTRY — A man miscalculated a left-turn Friday morning and hit a utility box, knocking out power to a busy section of Canyon Country. Canyon High, Skyblue Mesa Elementary and part of Sierra Vista Junior High were among those left in the dark, Lynn Carlisle, a receptionist at the junior high said. A truck driven by local resident Augustin Moreno, who was not licensed, hit the equipment about 8:35 a.m. while turning from eastbound Soledad Canyon Road to northbound Whites Canyon Road, sheriff’s Lt. Larry Gump said. Traffic was jammed for at least an hour because signals were out at several intersections. There were no injuries.
