first_imgJim McGuinness has been promoted to the Celtic first team in a move which could spell trouble for his long-term future with the Donegal GAA team.Jim McGuinness after he was appointed by former Celtic boss Neil Lennon.The Glenties man has impressed new manager Ronny Deila so much that the Norwegian is keen to exploit all of his skills.Deila confirmed “We already have a sports psychologist in Jim McGuinness, so I want to bring him in even more. All my staff’s knowledge is going to be used, I can’t do it all. “Of course, I learn a lot because I hire fantastic people around me but I want all my staff to be a specialist in something and then you need to be even better.”McGuinness struck a deal with Celtic which allowed him to stay on as manager of Donegal.But up until now he has kept a relatively low profile at Celtic since joinig two years ago, working mostly with the youth team structure.But it now appears that Deila is ready to bring the Donegal man in to work with his first team on a regular basis. It was feared the exit of Neil Lennon may cast some doubt over McGuinness’ future at the Glasgow club but it now appears the opposite has happened.The Donegal manager already commutes to Glasgow twice weekly and has never missed a  Donegal GAA trianing session.But there could be even more demand on his time with this apparent promotion.McGuinness is in the last year of a four year deal as Donegal GAA manager.With Donegal facing Monaghan in the Ulster Championship final in two weeks time, all McGuinness’ focus will be on that game.
