BBL 2019: Young fan hit by ball in the stands, George Bailey gifts him a pair of gloves

first_imgFormer Australia captain George Bailey won praise on social media after his heart-warming gesture of making a young fan, who was it by a six in the crowd, feel better.Bailey had hit a six, while playing for Hobart Hurricanes against Sydney Thunder in their Big Bash League clash at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, which struck the young fan in the crowd. Lucky for the boy that he wasn’t badly hurt but was shaken by the blow as he was picked up by the cameras crying on his father’s lap.Play was stopped for a minutes to check on the boy and make sure he was okay. A team doctor also ran the whole edge of the field to help the boy. After the end of the innings, Bailey even went personally to check on the fan and presenting the boy with his pair of gloves. Sydney Thunder player Daniel Sams also gifted him his signed cap.The boy’s father thanked Bailey and Sams for their concern on social media.”Big night at the BBL for my boy – hit on the head by a George Bailey 6 – gets a headache , Daniel Sams cap, Georges batting gloves and lots of care from StJohns and Sydney Thuner,” he posted on Twitter.Big night at the BBL for my boy – hit on the head by a George Bailey 6 – gets a headache , Daniel Sams cap, Georges batting gloves and lots of care from StJohns and @ThunderBBL pic.twitter.com/PvUdjEOdWwadvertisementIan Mackay (@ianmigdale) February 9, 2019His father also posted a video of the young boy back in training the next morning. And straight back to training today pic.twitter.com/MG2EJNGAeMIan Mackay (@ianmigdale) February 10, 2019″I think he is okay now but it was a bit of a scary moment catching that young fan with the six,” Bailey said at the post-match presentation.”It’d be nice to see someone of a reasonable age stepping up and taking the catch there. Your heart’s in your throat a little bit with a few of the crowd catches,” Bailey added.Bailey also said that the seniors in the crowd should at least make an effort of safe-guarding the younger fans who may be in line to be hit unexpectedly by flying sixes.”It’s the heroes that go for it and pull at out the last minute. Just step up and take the catch, it’s not that hard. Put your hands in front of it and leave them there. Let it hit them hard,” Bailey said. Also Read | Big Bash League: Nathan Coulter-Nile taken to hospital after onfield collapseAlso Read | Lightning quick MS Dhoni stumps Tim Seifert in less than a secondAlso Read | Dwayne Bravo has a new song and it’s about Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Asialast_img
